A bit of advice for all web host.
When multi purposing a server with internet radio, take in consideration when big files are uploaded/downloaded, a lot of resources are being used. A lot of used resources will knock my listeners off the air.
Seriously, if you have to servers, use 1 for streaming, and 1 for hosting.
Dont dog the all mighty radio shack.
Granted, they may be cheap, but heres a little fact that some of you might not know...
Radio Shacks mics are originally designed and manufactured by shure.
Some food for thought.
Seriously, what was AOL thinking?
These guys get partnered with Shoutcast....
As soon as "Tag" Loomis started to leave, they should have been begging on their knees for him to stay (despite rumors of a layoff). Now rumors are surfacing that the lead developer of SC_Trans has been layed off, and its sounding more confirmed by the moment.
What the hell was AOL thinking? they sucessfully might have just killed the future development of shoutcast. Maybe its time all internet stations start learning Icecast2 now, because unless the remaining shoutcast team do great things with finishing development, this brilliant move just spelled doom for SC and just pissed off all of the SC_SERV and GUI SC_trans skinning host that have developed business around the product. They could have just ask licensing host to partner with them or not carry the product? Seriously, cock shotgun, and blow off your legs while your at it.
With all of AOL's past business lessons, here is another. A programming group isnt a business. You fire the lead developer, your not firing the supervisor, your firing the guy that has his #(@! together enough to know how to make the product a reality.
Tag Loomis has found a nice cozy home as lead developer at Liquid.
Meanwhile, back to learning more of Icecast2
NIN released it latest CD free.
Regular 44,1 CD quality and higher for true Audiophiles. Not quite "The downward spiral" but a vast improvement from "ghost"
